該無(wú)內(nèi)含子基因編碼一個(gè)70kDa的熱休克蛋白，是熱休克蛋白70家族的成員。與其他熱休克蛋白共同作用，該蛋白穩(wěn)定現(xiàn)有蛋白的聚集，并介導(dǎo)新翻譯蛋白在細(xì)胞質(zhì)和細(xì)胞器中的折疊。通過(guò)與AU-rich element rna binding protein 1相互作用參與泛素-蛋白酶體途徑。該基因位于主要的組織相容性復(fù)合體III類(lèi)區(qū)域，與編碼相似蛋白質(zhì)的兩個(gè)密切相關(guān)的基因聚在一起。
